My name is Julie. I’m a fine art photographer in love with nature, a swim in the ocean; a strong cup of coffee; the smell of lavender; the sound of the rain; my husband and two small delicious girls. And weddings.
Weddings interweave love, beauty, and meaning in the richest of ways. When I’m photographing a wedding I’m happy from my heart to my toes.
Weddings offer one of life’s wild ironies – your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life and yet the most maddeningly ephemeral. You may spend it spinning on a tide of exhilaration, seeing only later in the photographs: the way you looked at one another as you walked down the aisle; how the light fell across your dress and haloed your hair; how children played in the leaves or watched you dance in quiet wonder.
About my style: My style is a mix of storytelling and fine art. A former journalist, I’m obsessed with stories; weddings are treasure troves of them. To this storytelling I bring a deeply artistic sensibility and understanding of light, design, and color. To me, a great photograph not only captures a moment, but renders it beautifully.
About me: I grew up on the California coast, deeply nature-inspired and fascinated with stories. When I grew up I went to Stanford and the Columbia Journalism School and became a journalist. I started a career as a fine art photographer in 2007 and never looked back.
I am so glad you are here.
