Where wedding photography meets beauty & meaning
Each wedding photographer comes from a different background
For me, that background is professional journalism. The years I spent reporting for newspapers, magazines, and radio have profoundly shaped how I approach weddings. In particular, it’s important to me to never have a preconceived idea of your story or to try to shape the story itself.
While some photographers embrace a style that requires careful curation and posing to get the photographs they want, my approach is different. Instead, my work is about capturing authentic joy, full presence, and a story that is real. Those, to me, are the very best photographs.
My story:
I grew up on the Northern California Coast, mesmerized by the natural world and obsessed with trying to capture fleeting moments. At Stanford and the Columbia Journalism School I studied journalism as well as international development and environmental issues.
For years, I worked as a professional journalist, covering everything from farmworkers to prisoners to artists. I launched my photography business in 2007 in order to bring the same storytelling approach into people’s weddings and lives.
Since then, I have photographed hundreds of weddings, documenting and reveling in the intricate and beautiful stories in each one.

Unlike traditional wedding photography, I don't impose a formula onto your day. Instead, I listen to understand what's important to you, then let your story, values, and day take the lead.
Of the scores of weddings and couples I’ve photographed over the years, no two have been the same. Your wedding is wholly unique. Your wedding photographs should be too.
Natural beauty
Natural beauty is at the heart of my work. My greatest inspiration comes from the natural world itself. I love natural light and wild places.
Similarly, my favorite photographs of people are the ones that are natural and unforced.
Ease, presence & joy
While capturing gorgeous imagery is at the top of my priority list, ensuring that you are as present and at ease on your wedding day is equally, if not more, important to me.
That’s because these priorities truly go hand in hand. The more present you are at your wedding, the more you will enjoy it. And, the more you enjoy it, the better the photographs will be.
Gentle guidance
Worried you won’t know what to do in front of the camera? Just because I’m story-based doesn’t mean I don’t provide guidance if you want it. And, most people do. I provide light direction and subtle tips to the extent you want, ensuring we get the best angles and lighting.
